Larry Gerlt - Department of Nebraska State Commander
Larry Gerlt was elected VFW Department of Nebraska State Commander in June 2017.
In September of 1996, Larry joined the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9844 in Yutan. He is currently a gold legacy life member of VFW Post 2704 in Omaha. Larry held the positions of Post Adjutant, Post Jr. Vice, Post Sr. Vice and Post Commander. He is currently a Certified National Recruiter, Quartermaster with Post 2704 and Department of Nebraska State Commander.
Larry served in the United State Air Force from September 1968 to October 1992. His eligibility comes from his service in Korea where he was an Advanced Location Strike System Computer Manager. During his 24 years he served at Lackland AFB, TX; Keesler AFB, MS; Offutt AFB, NE; N. Charleston AFS, SC; Baudette AFS, MN; Karamasel AFB, Turkey; Holloman AFB, NM; Osan AFB, Korea; Prum AFS, Germany; Lowry AFB, CO; Kapaun AFS, Germany; and then retired from Offutt AFB, NE after his last year with the United States Air Force.

Larry has been a Boy Scouts of America adult leader since 1972.
Larry attended Valley High School and holds 2 Associate Degrees from the Community College of the Air Force: Resource Management and Computer Science.
Larry has been married to Bonnie since 1970 and resides in Ralston, NE. They have 2 children: Candy and Jason and 6 grandchildren: Tim, Tom, Torri, Arden, Evan and Artemis.
